Research and thesis
Market analysis, passenger experience design, fleet and network modelling, aviation economics, and the regulatory landscape. Output: a business case that can withstand external scrutiny.
The venture
AJB Aviation Ventures is a development-stage Indian aviation venture. Its present work is research, strategy and design — the layers that have to exist before an airline is allowed to carry anybody.
Who we are
AJB Aviation Ventures is being developed as an Indian aviation venture with a single long-term objective: to build a premium but genuinely accessible airline for the domestic market.
At this stage the venture is a body of work rather than a body of assets. That work covers the market thesis, the passenger experience design, fleet and network modelling, the capital structure such a business would require, and the regulatory pathway it would have to follow. None of it is glamorous. All of it decides whether an airline survives its third year.
We publish this material openly because a venture at our stage has exactly one asset worth showing: the quality of its thinking. Scale can be bought later. Judgement cannot.
The standard we hold ourselves to
If a claim on this website could not survive a question from an airline chief financial officer, it does not belong on this website.
What we believe
A venture that overstates itself early has to keep overstating itself forever. We would rather be small and exactly described than large and approximately true.
Good service is not a training video. It is rostering, staffing ratios, information flow and the authority given to the person standing in front of the passenger.
Punctuality, honest schedules and clean aircraft communicate more about a carrier than any campaign. Reliability is the most persuasive thing an airline can own.
The people closest to the passenger should be able to resolve something. Centralising every decision is what turns a small problem into a public one.
This industry punishes impatience more reliably than it punishes caution. AJB is structured around a timeline measured in years, not funding rounds.
We deliberately do not list safety as a differentiator. It is the entry ticket to the industry, owned by regulators and engineers, and never a marketing claim.
Governance
An airline is not run by one person, and any founder who suggests otherwise has misunderstood the industry. AJB's intended structure keeps founding vision and strategic direction at board level, while operational leadership sits with people who have spent careers doing it.
The disciplines an airline genuinely requires are specific and non-negotiable:
| Flight operations | Accountable manager, chief pilot, operations control |
| Safety | Safety management system, occurrence reporting, just culture |
| Engineering | Continuing airworthiness, maintenance control, reliability |
| Regulatory affairs | DGCA liaison, operations specifications, compliance monitoring |
| Finance | Treasury, fuel and currency exposure, lease and covenant management |
| Commercial | Network planning, revenue management, distribution, pricing |
| Ground and crew | Airport operations, rostering, training, cabin standards |
None of these roles are currently filled. Listing them is a statement of what the venture knows it needs, not a claim about who it has.
Boundaries
A venture should be judged on what it knows before it is judged on what it owns.
